A number of attributes distinguished God among all other deities throughout history, one of which was His experienced presence on earth.  From the creation of the world all the way to the culmination of God's global plan, He has interjected Himself into the timeline of the human race.  Moreover, He promises to visit those places where He is welcomed.

One thing that still continues to set Christians apart in this world is the cultivation of His presence.  Ahead of his time, Brother Lawrence demonstrated a life that was solely dedicated to the pursuit of God.  Although he was what the world considered a lowly dishwasher, Lawrence was described as carrying a powerful presence of God in the midst of his daily work.  His writings are worth reading as is asking the question as to what role God's presence plays in our own lives.
