Help

  • Always have emergency numbers programmed into your phone. If you need assistance on campus call Campus Safety at (864) 508-0107. CALL 911 for emergencies (9-911 from campus phones), then contact Campus Safety.
  • Make sure your SWUALERT contact information is current
  • Be aware of your surroundings at all times. Do not get distracted by friends or electronic devices.
  • Lock your vehicle and don't leave personal items out in the open. Many crimes are crimes of opportunity, so don’t give anyone the opportunity, even if you think that the area is safe.
  • Utilize the buddy system, especially at night. If you leave with a friend, make sure you come back together.  If you are alone and you feel uneasy, call Campus Safety and an officer will be happy to escort you to your destination on campus.
  • Be familiar with the layout of campus and any buildings you frequent.
  • Avoid risky situations. If you are uneasy about something, do not do it.
  • Do not prop open locked doors. Make sure locked doors are secured behind you when exiting.
  • Report suspicious activity and unsafe conditions.  The Silent Witness form can be used for discrete reporting.
  • Mark your valuables to discourage theft and be sure to keep records of any serial numbers.  Campus Safety maintains an engraver for your convenience.
  • Campus Safety coordinates training throughout the school year on a variety of topics including, but not limited to: fraud awareness, crime prevention, first aid, fire safety, disaster response, active shooter response, and self-defense.  Contact us if you would like to schedule training for a group on any of these or other topics related to safety and security.
