Brad Bowen has served as Director of Campus Safety since 2016. He is a certified security officer, security instructor, ALICE instructor, and campus protection officer.
Dr. Bowen began his criminal justice career as a Law Enforcement Explorer over twenty years ago. Prior to working in higher education, Bowen served as an EMT, MP in the SC Army National Guard, deputy sheriff, and field training officer. Bowen also continues to serve as a criminal justice professor and subject matter expert for various institutions of higher education.
Bowen is a graduate of the U.S. Army Military Police School and a J.P. Strom graduate of the SC Criminal Justice Academy. He holds an Associate of Public Service in Criminal Justice Technology from Tri-County Technical College, a Bachelor of Business Administration with an emphasis in Legal Studies from Strayer University, a Master of Science in Criminal Justice from the University of Cincinnati, a Master of Arts in Public Policy and Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership from Liberty University. He is also a graduate of the National Association of Campus Safety Administrators Command College.
Bowen is a member of the Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences, American Society of Criminology, National Association of Campus Safety Administrators, International Association of Campus Law Enforcement Administrators, and Southern Criminal Justice Association.
