Warrior Athletics to Add Four New Sports in 2013

CENTRAL, S.C. – Southern Wesleyan University (SWU) Director of Athletics Chris Williams is pleased to announce that the SWU Board of Trustees has unanimously voted in favor of the addition of four new intercollegiate sports teams in men’s and women’s track and field and men’s and women’s tennis. The teams will begin competition in 2013-2014.

“I am excited that the Board has approved the addition of these four sports,” commented Williams. “The addition of track and tennis will only add to momentum here at SWU.”

A national search for the head coaching positions of the track and field teams and the tennis teams will begin immediately.

SWU is looking to continue to push the enrollment growth of the university, while also being able to give the student-athletes a first-class experience of competing in intercollegiate athletics.

This move will also increase the exciting interest at the University to make application with the NCAA on February 1st, 2013. The track and field teams will also help bolster the successful women and men’s cross country programs at SWU.
