Student Application for Donor-Funded Scholarships

 

DONOR-FUNDED SCHOLARSHIPS

Southern Wesleyan University (SWU) is blessed with many generous donors who wish to invest in student scholarships. Each donor may set qualifications for a scholarship to be awarded. If you are interested in applying for a Donor-Funded Scholarship, please read the below information carefully and complete requirements to be considered. 

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS

Current and accepted prospective students may apply for Donor-Funded Scholarships at SWU. Recipients of Donor-Funded Scholarships will receive at least a minimum of a $250 award. The following is required to be considered for Donor-Funded Scholarships at SWU.

Prospective and Transfer Students:

  1. Minimum grade point average of 3.0 (not weighted)
  2. Completion of Student Application for Donor-Funded Scholarships

Current Students:

  1. Minimum grade point average of 2.5
  2. Completion of Student Application for Donor-Funded Scholarships
  3. Academic and social good standing

TIMELINE

January 31  -  Application Opens

March 30  -  Application Deadline

April 30  -  Prospective Students Notified of Scholarship Awards

June 15  -  Current Students Notified of Scholarship Awards

CONDITIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

Receiving a Donor-Funded Scholarship is a high honor and a distinguished award at Southern Wesleyan University. Scholarship awards are determined each spring semester for the next academic year. If selected to receive a scholarship, there are high expectations for recipients. Recipients represent Southern Wesleyan University and are expected to comply with the following conditions and requirements: 

  1. Complete a handwritten thank you note to the donor(s) of designated scholarship(s) following the prompted instructions.
  2. Attend the Scholarship Celebration Event the 4th Friday in September (recipients will be excused from classes to attend this event).
  3. Represent Southern Wesleyan University by complying with the University's mission and vision which includes presentation of self in person and on social media platforms, and adhering to all university policies.
  4. Maintain at least a 2.5 cumulative grade point average (or the minimum GPA requirement set by the individual donor).
  5. Participate in one event per semester (if requested) that is hosted by an office of the University to advance the mission or goals of the University (this is in addition to the Scholarship Celebration Event).  
  6. If selected for a Donor-Funded Scholarship(s), completion of the re-eligibility form is required to be reconsidered for Donor-Funded Scholarships in subsequent years.
