Wimphrie Among Active Winningest Head Coaches

CENTRAL, S.C. - Southern Wesleyan University Head Men's Basketball Coach Charles Wimphrie is currently among the leaders of NAIA Division I Active Coaches in overall wins. Wimphrie sits in 18th overall with 336 wins as he enters his 21st season at the helm of the men's basketball program at SWU.
“It is an honor to be mentioned among the top 25 coaches in the country on any level," commented Wimphrie. "I credit all my success to my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and the talented young student-athletes that He has allowed me to coach.”
During Wimphrie's tenure SWU has had back-to-back 20-win seasons, earned a NCCAA South Region Championship in 1999, an NAIA Tournament berth during the 2005-2006 season, a win over NCAA Division I Charleston Southern University, eight former players that have played professionally overseas, and now has 32 former student-athletes that are currently coaches at the high school level. He is the all-time winningest basketball coach at SWU, and also has set the single season wins mark in the women's basketball program with 22.
There are currently six coaches in the Southern States Athletic Conference (SSAC), including Wimphrie, who are ranked in the top-25 of NAIA Division I Active Coaches in overall wins.
