Description

This course provides an in-depth exploration of assessment practices aligned with the Science of Reading, equipping educators with the knowledge and skills to evaluate and support students’ reading development effectively. Students will examine the purposes, types, and administration of reading assessments, focusing on how data informs instruction and intervention. The course covers screening, diagnostic, progress monitoring, and outcome assessments, with an emphasis on the five pillars of reading: phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension. Participants will analyze real-world data, learn to interpret assessment results, and design responsive instructional plans to address diverse student needs.
