    Description

    This course provides an overview of methods, materials, and current research for teaching social studies in elementary schools. It focuses on enabling teacher candidates to effectively teach social-studies concepts using student-centered, inquiry-based approaches. Current theories and standards for social-studies process skills and technologies are explored. Required for all elementary education teacher candidates. Prerequisites: HIST 1063, HIST 2053; Acceptance into Lock 1, GPA 2.75.
