Description
This course provides an overview of methods, materials, and current research for teaching science in early childhood classrooms (grades K-3). Emphasis is on student-centered approaches such as discovery, inquiry, and experimentation. It explores current theories and standards for using science-process skills and various technologies. Students will develop thematic units based on S.C. Standards for Science, addressing pupil needs across the curriculum. Required for all early childhood education teacher candidates. Prerequisite: Acceptance into Lock 1, GPA 2.75.
