Description

This methods course provides an opportunity for students to learn effective strategies for teaching mathematics in grades 2-6, aligned with the Common Core State Standards and South Carolina State Standards for Mathematics. Students will develop lesson plans as part of thematic units, ensuring they can teach mathematics effectively to all students, including those with exceptional learning needs . The course emphasizes the creation of hands-on materials and the use of evidence-based practices to improve outcomes for all students. Required for all elementary education teacher candidates, this course prepares educators to integrate math instruction across the curriculum. Prerequisite: Math competency (MATH 1053); Acceptance into Lock 1, GPA 2.75.
